Biography

Angela Maxwell OBE is a businesswomen whose contribution to commerce and enterprise support has seen her develop an stellar reputation, serve on a host of non-executive boards and receive numerous awards and recognitions.

Business background

Angela rose to prominence as a business leader as she spearheaded the transformation of regional Espresso coffee machine manufacturer Fracino into a global brand.

When she joined the company in 1995, Fracino was turning over just £400,000 and struggling to innovate to keep up with an ever-changing marketplace.  Under Angela's leadership, Fracino became a leading brand manufacturer and exporter and her sales and marketing drive saw a 700% increase in turnover to £3.6m. 

Board experience

In addition to her activity in the private sector, Angela has shared her commercial insight with a range of organisations through non-executive board positions.

Since 2009, Angela has been a non-executive director of University Hospital Birmingham's Foundation Trust. She has previously been a board member of regional development agency Advantage West Midlands and a former European advisor to UK Trade & Investment. She is the first woman to Chair the Board of Directors at Birmingham Repertory Theatre in its 100 year plus history. 

Achievements and accolades

Her contribution to business and supporting enterprise has seen Angela receive a host of recognitions and honours. In 2010, she received the OBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to business and an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Birmingham for business leadership. In 2007 she was one of 200 businesswomen honoured by the Queen at Buckingham Palace for outstanding contribution to UK Trade and Industry.
